HOW GROOVYGOURDS WAS BORN
GroovyGourds was the result of brainstorm that took place in a 4x4 Napkin while our dinner was served at our favorite restaurant. We went trough a very long creative process
which involved a lot of learning while we tried several mediums to project our art.
The final product was a decorative home accessories,
a specially selected gourd, hand painted with high quality pigments, and complemented
with acrylic glass top, copper top or pewter top. To enclose this magic mixture of colors
and fine metal, every single gourd piece is sealed using a heavy coat of transparent varnish to protect them.
The result is a truly mirror of what we have in mind and for sure these beautiful pieces
will sweet you home as a honey comb.
DESCRIPTION ABOUT THE PROCESS
We start by picking special gourds, one by one directly from Gourd Farms located 6 hours from home.
The perfect gourd should have special symmetric shape qualities to
be selected, also has to have a hard and thick crust to
endure trough the years. We discard any gourd with fungus
spots and/or insect bites.
The right gourd will talk to us and even will suggest what colors it likes to wear.
In mater of minutes a full picture will
pop in our minds, then we will share our ideas of this short dialogue for a final product.
OUR INSPIRATION
Just before we start a new art session we like to review your suggestions while Classic Music, Operettas, Calypso, Phil Collins, Juan Luis Guerra or even Salsa is been played on the background of our Study room.
Our goal is to mix all these positive elements to create the perfect decorative home accessories that will make you proud every time your friends visit your home and compliment our pieces.
Our inspiration is driven by colors, shapes and by the idea of playing with your senses
while you observe our pieces.
